About Me
My name is Jaison Cooper, and I’m excited to join the UMBC community as an Academic Advisor. While I’m new to UMBC, I have providing academic advising services for about 10 years now, working at the University of Maryland, College Park, where I also earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Helping students make the most of their college experience fills my cup. I enjoy supporting students not only with course planning but also with the bigger picture of how college connects to your future. When it comes to career planning, I like to encourage students to think about the story they’ll share with future employers or investors—a story that reflects who they are and what they bring to the table.
Outside of advising, I’m a big fan of reading, watching, and writing fantasy. I especially love great world-building, so if we meet and you have a recommendation, I’d love to hear it!
