Meet your Advisor
Hello! I’m Hailey Turney, and I am an Academic Advisor for the College of Engineering and Information Technology. While I am able to assist all of our COEIT students, I am the assigned advisor for all of our Mechanical Engineering and a few of our Computer Science students. I have worked with COEIT students since 2021, but I have been a member of UMBC’s community since 2019 when I began my Master of Arts degree in Texts, Technologies, and Literature.
As your advisor, I will work hard to make sure you have a positive experience at UMBC! If you have any questions or concerns, you can always contact me. I will do my best to help you or direct you to the correct resource that can help. Our goal is to get you graduated and feel comfortable in your degree!
Along with advising, I also teach sections of UNIV 101 and ENGL 100.
How Best to Get in Touch
If you have a quick question, sending an email (from your UMBC email account!) is the most straightforward and quickest way to get in contact with me. Otherwise, feel free to make an appointment with be using the buttons above and I would be happy to chat with you.
Please keep in mind that my appointment calendar is set to a two-week rotating basis. If you do not see a time that works for you, more appointments are added to the calendar just about everyday. I will only have in person appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I will have online appointments everyday of the week. If you have something extremely time sensitive, please send me an email explaining your situation and we can go from there.

Mondays 8:00am-4:30pm: My alternating work from home/in person day
Fun Fact
I grew up in New Jersey and moved to Maryland in 2012. I love to play soccer and make some really bad puns. I also have an unhealthy amount of books and looking to get even more if you have a recommendation!
