Meet your Advisor

Hello! I’m Emma Jett, and I am the Transfer Success Advisor for the College of Engineering and Information Technology. While I am a resource for all of our COEIT Transfer students, I am the assigned advisor for all of our Mechanical Engineering transfer students, and many of our Computer Science transfers. I have worked with COEIT transfer students since Fall of 2023, but I have been a member of UMBC’s community since 2017 when I started my own educational journey in the English Department (MA ’23, BA ’21).

In my current role as Transfer Success Advisor, I work to ensure that each of you have as smooth of a transfer journey as possible. While I am certainly here as a resource for all-things major-related, I can also get you connected with all of the academic, professional, support, wellbeing, and social resources that you have access to at UMBC. I’m looking forward to working with you towards your graduation day!

Along with advising, I also teach sections of UNIV 301 for our COIET Transfers, and I serve on committees like UMBC’s Transfer Success Committee to support campus-wide initiatives for transfer student success.

How Best to Get in Touch

If you have a quick question, sending me an email (from your UMBC email account!) is the most straightforward. Otherwise, feel free to make an appointment with be using the buttons above and I would be happy to chat with you.

Please keep in mind that my appointment calendar is set to a two-week rotating basis. If you do not see a time that works for you, more appointments are added to the calendar just about everyday. If you have something extremely time sensitive, please send me an email explaining your situation and we can go from there.

Where Am I Working?

Mondays and Wednesdays 8:30am-5pm: In person in ITE 203

Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30am-5pm: Working virtually from home

Fridays 8:30am-5pm: My alternating work from home/in person day

*I also go to a number of events outside of the office and off-campus at the different Community Colleges in the area – if you stop by my office and I’m not in, please send an email or make an appointment!

Fun Fact

I grew up going to my grandfather’s farm in West Virginia – there’s nothing more stunning than a clear, stary night in the mountains. In my free time I like to play board games, video games, bake, and emborder. Arguably, I have an embarrassing number of hours in Stardew Valley.
