If you have completed your gateway requirements and are not a first semester transfer student, please see the instructions below regarding your faculty advisor assignment. If you are currently enrolled in gateway courses, your gateway is not complete.
Chemical Engineering Majors:
Chemical Engineering students who have completed the gateway will be assigned a faculty advisor. Faculty advisor information is posted outside of ENG 316. Please contact your faculty advisor to schedule an advising appointment.
Computer Science & Computer Engineering Majors:
Computer Science and Computer Engineering students may view their advisor’s name in myUMBC. In order to find your advisor in MyUMBC, select “Advising and Student Support” under the Guide section, then click on “My Advisor.” Faculty assignments are also posted outside of ITE 204. Please contact your faculty advisor to schedule an advising appointment. Faculty advisors generally wait until the Schedule of Classes is available (October 22nd) to meet with students.
Mechanical Engineering Majors:
Mechanical Engineering students who have just completed the gateway will receive an email communication from the Mechanical Engineering Department regarding advising. Students who have previously been assigned a Mechanical Engineering advisor may visit the Mechanical Engineering Department in ENGR 210 regarding their faculty advisor assignment.
Information Systems and Business Technology Administration Majors (or students changing to one of these majors):
If you are a declared major, then you may find your advisor’s name in MyUMBC. Select “Advising and Student Support” under the Guide section, then click on “My Advisor.” During pre-registration advising, most advisors have a signup sheet outside their offices where students can sign up for an advising appointment. If your advisor is not listed, or you have not yet declared your major as IS or BTA, please contact Mr. Richard Sponaugle.
