If you have completed your gateway requirements, and are not a first semester transfer student, please see the instructions below regarding your faculty advisor assignment. If you are currently enrolled in gateway courses, your gateway is not complete.
Chemical Engineering Majors:
Chemical Engineering students who have completed the gateway will be assigned a faculty advisor. The name of your faculty advisor will be emailed to you by the Chemical Engineering department. Please contact your faculty advisor to schedule an advising appointment. Questions about faculty advisor assignments can be to the department at cbee@umbc.edu.
Computer Science & Computer Engineering Majors:
Computer Science and Computer Engineering students who have completed the gateway will be assigned a faculty advisor. You may view your faculty advisor’s name in myUMBC. In order to find your advisor in myUMBC, select “Profile” from the top of myUMBC, then Select “Degree” from the left side menu. Your declared major(s)/ minor(s) and advisor will be listed on the right hand side. Please contact your faculty advisor to schedule an advising appointment. Faculty advisors generally wait until the Schedule of Classes is available to meet with students. Mechanical Engineering Majors:
Mechanical Engineering students who have just completed the gateway will receive an email communication from the Mechanical Engineering Department regarding advising. Students who previously been advised by the Mechanical Engineering department will be assigned a faculty advisor. You may view your faculty advisor’s name in myUMBC. In order to find your advisor in myUMBC, select “Profile” from the top of myUMBC, then Select “Degree” from the left side menu. Your declared major(s)/ minor(s) and advisor will be listed on the right hand side. Please contact your faculty advisor to schedule an advising appointment. Information Systems and Business Technology Administration Majors (or students changing to one of these majors):
If you are a declared major, then you can find your advisor’s name in myUMBC. You can view your faculty advisor’s name in myUMBC. In order to find your advisor in myUMBC, select “Profile” from the top of myUMBC, then Select “Degree” from the left side menu. Your declared major(s)/ minor(s) and advisor will be listed on the right hand side.
