Pre-Transfer Advising Main Campus

Pre-Transfer Advising helps prospective transfer students:

  • Determine how previous coursework will apply to a UMBC computing or engineering program
  • Identify remaining general education or major requirements
  • Understand transfer admissions timeline and program policies
  • Connect to resources that will ease the transition to the university

Pre-Transfer Advising is most helpful for students who are at least one year from transferring. Please note, specific questions regarding the admission process, deadlines, and application should be directed to Undergraduate Admissions at 410-455-2292. Or if you’d like to have a more in-depth conversation with an Admissions Counselor about applying to UMBC you can set up a one-on-one meeting with a Counselor.

If you are interested in Pre-Transfer Advising please complete the UMBC COEIT Pre-Transfer Advising Form.

Once you have completed the form, a pre-transfer advising packet will be created for you which will include a 4-year plan for your intended program, detailed outline of how your courses will apply, as well as course recommendations for your next enrolled semester whether at UMBC or your current institution.
